NEO Trail has formal events that are typical Fat Ass events, with a loosely organized goal for the run. There are currently two long running events, Slim Pickin’s and URINEO. SP is held each year in November and URINEO is always the Saturday before Christmas at Mill Creek Park.
There also challenges that you can do when ever you want. These are mostly loop events that are a bit of a reach for the ordinary ultra runner to complete. We have these currently on offer, and are always looking for more unique challenges to add to the list.
Gate28X2 – this is an out and back course from the yellow gate at Ohiopyle out to mile marker 8, and then back. You must do two laps to complete the challenge.
Monkey Hill Marathon – this is 29 laps of the Monkey Hill Section of Mill Creek Park. This particular challenge has a caveat that you must finish the event on either the day of URINEO or the week between Christmas and New Years Day to get a recognized finish.
Hot Monkey – This event utilizes the same course as the MHM, but has a caveat that the daytime temp must be at least 80 degrees or above at some point during the day, and you must start after sunrise and finish before sunset.
100 Hills 50K – This event uses the Monkey Hills, but in a figure 8 pattern. Instead of going end to end like the 2 other Monkey events, you only have to traverse the length of the MHM course and you also get to route around the bottom of the hills as well. Much easier then the MHM, and you only have 100 hill climbs on this course. You can run each lap in what ever direction you want. No time frame or limit to complete this run.
Ledges Trail – This event involves 18 loops of the Ledges Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley. You can run each lap in what ever direction you want. No time frame or limit to complete this run.
Salt Run – This event is 10 laps of the Salt Run Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley. You can run each lap in what ever direction you want. No time frame or limit to complete this run.
To Hell and Back – This is a 50 mile run that starts at Moraine State Park and heads to Hell’s Hollow and then back to the starting point. Some rules for this event.
